Concerned?

Yesterday we attended my hubby's church for the purpose of our little Petey being "dedicated". Basically she was being prayed for and we were promising in front of the "church" that we would raise our daughter for the Lord and so on... blah, blah.

Anyway, it was a kind of cute litte ceremony and the Other Grandparents attended along with Aunt CC and her daughter were there. I forced all of our boys to go and even sweet Hannah came for the day. Princess Petey slept through the ceremony so it all went well.

The best part though came after Pastor Kevin was done.

Pastor Dave (I don't know why they need so many pastors or even how many they have but...) stood up and began flipping through his Bible and was talking about how sometimes we will ask the Lord to give us a "word" and then when we find a scripture we don't like what is says. "Bible Roulette" he called it. So he said he was doing this to determine what he would talk to the church about. The great topic he choose... that the Lord gave him... was...

Prostitution!

yep... my daughter's sweet dedication was followed by a discussion on
prostitution. You heard me. Prostitution!

Okay... so he didn't mean the great boots kind of prostitution but still. Come on. I think someone should have warned us what his topic was so we could have not been there. As Hannah would say... "Awkward!"
The best part... actually came when I went to retrieve my two youngest sons out of the boys bathroom...by pushing open the door and wacking some guy who was coming out. Oops!
I have decided to never return to my hubby's church. I think the Lord was trying to tell me something and I am pretty sure I don't like the message.

Marshmellows, anyone?

Many years ago, in a different lifetime I was a single parent. I remember during that time that occassionally I would have an idea for something that I wanted to go and do with my boys. Just the three of us. I wanted my sons to have some good memories to look back on. There was a particular time during that first summer when I was single again that I really wanted to take my boys camping. I had it planned. I had a tent (from where I do not recall) and some sleeping bags and I was rather excited about getting to play in the fire. :) Anyway... I had phoned my mom to let her know of our plans so that she would not panic if she could not find us for a couple of days. No big deal right?
"There are rapists out there." My mother informed me and that I "could not" take my boys out into the wilderness. I knew my mother had lost her mind. Besides... how would the rapist know where I was camping?
Needless to say I did not go camping although I did keep an eye out for the "rapists"... I was getting lonely. (HAHAHA)
This week my dear hubby is out of town. For the entire week. I have the house to myself (with 5 extras) and lots of time to watch whatever I want on TV. I sat up late last night reading about Rand al'Thor (dang you Little Sister..) and with visions of Trollocks in my head I went to bed just after 11pm.
As I lay there I could hear my mother "There are rapists out there" and suddenly wondered if I had locked the front door?.. where is the baseball bat?..was that the dog barking?..shh... did you hear that?... I think I might have slept for a few minutes last night. (Uncle John was in my dreams but he kept calling my sister Janice and wouldn't let me talk to her...)
Of all the things my mother has tried to teach me... I am so grateful that I can remember that one sweet message about rapists. I am afraid this will be a very long week.

A longing....

I have received word via text that my brother has become a parent at last. I have been indirectly following the progress of this event through my mother because I am not a part of that "Awsome" family. My heart aches that I will most likely never be allowed to be a part of this little one's life. I hope that some year I will be permitted to see her in person and maybe even tell her I am her "favorite auntie" like my sisters will. Maybe someone can secretly give her a small kiss on her forehead for me? I miss her already.

Inept.

I have spent over an hour searching for a new, more exciting background to put on my thing here. I finally found one that was sufficently pink and I thought kind-a cute. I then attempted to follow the "simple" instructions for applying the new cute image to my blog.... what? Not only can I not make it appear... I cannot figure out where I sent it to. So... if you see a pinkish blog page floating lost through space... it is mine and if you don't mind... just ignore it.
