Where's my fork?

Last night after everyone had eaten far too much and we were just begining to dish up the pie my sweet freckled son disappeared for a moment. He came back down the stairs and read us a very fitting poem. I just had to share it...

I ate too much turkey,
I ate too much corn,
I ate too much pudding and pie.
I'm stuffed up with muffins
and much to much stuffin',
I'm probably going to die.
I hope everyone had a beautiful thanksgiving. We did. (Thanks little sis and uncle for sharing your presence with us. You were great sports.)

Atleast once a week.

There comes a time in the life of every little girl when it becomes absolutely necessary to take the time to have a bath. Don't you agree?
Yesterday was that day for Princess Petey. I had meant to put her in the night before but between scouts, dinner, homework and bedtime for boys I ran out of time and energy. So... after putting the little boys on the bus and popping in a movie to entertain Mark I headed of to the bathroom with baby in my arms and her little pink washcloth in my hands. I put her little chair-thingy into the tub and turned on the water. I immediatelt turned it back off and picked up the phone to call my plumber hubby.
The water coming out of my tap was almost the exact same color as the water had been when I last tried to cover my gray hair before having our pictures taken. The box called it "foxy brown". I can tell you there was nothing foxy about it coming out of my spout.
Long story shorter.... according to the City there was some magnisum in our water caused by the construction going on at the well where our water comes from. The Lady on the phone said it was non-toxic and to just let my water run for 10 minutes. Umm...sure.
Anyway, Princess Petey remained in her sweaty, spitty, smelly glory all day yesterday.
Today... she got bubbles. :)

Pass the towel.

What is it about little boys and water?
Jellybean was outside playing with the neighbor boy and when I looked out both of them looked as though they had been standing in several inches of water. When i questioned them about the location of the water they both starred at me blankly.

Water? What water? There's water around here?

Not long later after the neighbor boy had gone home Jellybean rummaged through the coat closet (which is an entirely different story) and found his puppy boots which he never wears because I always forget he has them. I hollered at him to stay out of the water... blank stare...again.

Squish came home from off the bus and immediately headed for the back yard. It was as though the water was calling to him. I didn't even get the chance to tell him to go outside. Amazing!

Anyway about 30 minutes went by and I noticed that there was very little noise coming from the back yard so I went to investigate. :) Both of my sweet little lambs were in their boots (I don't know when Squish put his on) and soaked to the bone. Squish was dumping dirty water out of Jellybean's boots into the dog water and both were laughing hysterically...

Until they saw me watching...

He was in the water! He took my boot! I'm cold! He got me wet! Can I have a bath? Can we have hot cocoa?

Good grief. If I hadn't been watching them I would almost have believed they weren't having fun.

Very true sometimes....

Oh, yea.

By the way, Brownie retook (is that a word?) the math portion of the Compass test at the college and PASSED!!!

YEA!!!

Way to go, Brownie. I knew you had my brain (cause where else could I have lost it?) :)

Sounds of Silence.

Last night I had to attend a Stake Primary meeting. We had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert... it was actually pretty yummy. The meeting was a typical meeting. They taught us a new song (about building our eternal families...I've never heard it before but it was very pretty), explained the girls program of Activity Days and then moved on to Scouting. Nothing new.
But wait...
The woman giving us the lesson was telling a sweet story about 11 year old Scout camp and of a handicapped boy who had attended. She was somewhat emotional as she told the story and had paused for a brief moment.
The room was totally quiet. Until...

My dear sweat Princess Petey proceeded to let loose and mess her diaper... as loudly as possible.
Everyone started laughing. I was so embarassed. I apologized for her behavior and quickly explained that her brothers are so very proud of her noise levels.
After control was regained and the meeting concluded... I think every sister there came over to speak to Princess Petey. Many complimenting her on her skills.
What can I say.... my kids are talented.....?

New Begining.

I have been given the opportunity to try to repair/make a relationsip with Rachel.
I really hope this can be a new beginning. I can use some advice on girls :) and she has had far more experience than me. Maybe I can pick her brain....

Not raining today.

Our schools closed early yesterday for flooding. About a bazillion people drove past my house to get to the river. I did not make it down to look at it but you could hear it flowing if you opened the front door. Today though looks to be a beautiful day. Hopefully that was the storm of the season.

Trip.

My visit to Utah was much like the plane ride there and back. Bumpy the majority of the time with a few smooth spots. Ups and downs, if you will.
Ups: Friends, Ray, breakfast, Grandma Mc., cinnamon rolls.
Downs: Dinner and most everything else.
Yep. Memories!

Window Seat?

Today is my 9th anniversary of being married to my Hubby. I have to say that I am one of the lucky ones. We still like to be around each other and enjoy our times together. I know so many couples that struggle... I am so glad we don't. (usually)
My Hubby is giving me the gift of flight this year. He is flying the three of us home. My daughter gets to re-meet her two favorite Aunties and her grandparents. She will be meeting another of her favorite Aunties and her Uncles, who aren't bad either. :) I am most excited to get to show her off to MY grandma.
I think I have packed everything... there is no more room.
My only anxious moments come from the knowledge that I must leave my sons behind. I am trying not to cry at the idea. I have promised endless video game time and I am certain that they will be fine. Still.....

Just one Piece of Candy...

Halloween was quite the uneventful evening. Brownie deserted us and went to watch scary movies with Hannah. My Hubby took the three boys out (a dead pirate, a mutant turtle and a red power ranger). Princess Petey and I hung out here at home and passed out the sweets. (she was a little black kitty and I was not really anything.. the doorbell kept ringing so I never really got to dress up..) Blondie said they only went to like 15 houses. It was foggy and the littles got tired. Anyway. We had exactly 100 kids. The final goblin of the evening rung the bell just before 10pm. I would have given her the entire bowl of treats but the hubby was bothered that someone was out so late so he only gave her a small helping of sugar. I will post the picture of my gang one of these first days.
