Are you kidding?

My oldest son has gone to work today (actually for this whole week) with my hubby. Brownie is wanting to earn some money so that he can take his girlfriend to the prom. Sounds fairly easy and straight forward doesn't it? He is supposed to help around the shop... sweep, pull weeds.. whatever yucky chores they can devise for him. I though that he would be perfectly safe. Shows what I know.....

I had just gotten out of the shower (sometimes you have to have one) and my son was calling me. When I answered, he immediately handed the phone to his dad who demanded to know where I was and why it had taken me so long to answer the phone. (My husband has forbidden me to set foot out of this house without his prior consent due to the early state of my labor... blah, blah.)

Anyway... after convincing him that I had not been at the zoo he informed me that my son had washed his hands with some orange soap and had had an allergic reaction to the soap. Brownie is deathly allergic to plants and also fruits. He is supposed to carry an epi-pen with him where ever he happenes to be because if his reaction is severe enough he really only has about 6 minutes in which to shove a needle into his thigh and administer the medicine. No biggie...right? Except for the fact that he was at work about 25 minutes away and his pen is down stairs in his backpack. Lovely.
They rushed to the store and had gotten him some Benadryl to take and were just calling to tell me he was fine. His fingers and his tongue both felt swollen but he was feeling fine and so "not to worry...hahahahaha" my husband told me. Well, don't I feel better now? I had never imagined that by simply touching a fruity object that my son might have problems.
So what is the lesson we have learned from this experience.... DO NOT WASH YOUR HANDS!! I told Brownie to just wipe his hands off on the back of his dad's shirt.... a little extra dirt won't kill him. Washing his hands might though!

Happy B-day to Me........

Yesterday I was blessed to celebrate my birthday. I am now 25-K. Or as my children say... OLD.

It was mostly a normal day at our house. I baked a chocolate cake while the boys were all at school. I don't really care for chocolate any more but I know that is a mutant gene that I have developed over the years. So I continue to fight for a cure.

Later... I took my Blonde son shopping for shoes. He is getting to go home for Spring Break because he needs some Pop-pop time.... and since my parents are not coming up in May like planned before we have decided to put him on a plane (alone... I am trying not to think about it. ) Anyway. My hubby had mentioned a few weeks ago the our son looked like he needed some new shoes. I figured if the ones he had could make it through basketball we would think about getting some new ones later. So yesterday morning I happened to notice that my Blonde son literally had worn his shoes out completely... you could see his toes. So we went to find shoes and had the lady measure his feet with that metal thing and discovered that my son needed a size 10 shoe. The ones were his toes stuck out were only size 8. Umm. I told my child that in the future to just tell me his shoes are getting too small instead of waiting until they are totally numb from lack of room. Needless to say we also bought new church shoes... the ones he has been wearing are like 7 1/2. Ouch!

Then... my day really got exciting.... I had a three hour primary meeting. I must admit thought that it was nice to eat the brownies they made for me and the pink roses were really pretty.

Following that... my hubby took us all out to Red Robbin where I ate way too much. We came home and had cake... I was given a dozen red roses from my hubby, The Bee Movie and a new coulender from my sons. We ate the cake (which is really good for breakfast too) and everybody went to bed.

All in all... not a bad day. Want some cake?

Hit it again!

Maybe it is my hormones... maybe it is because I have yet another cough that causes me to piddle.... maybe it is that we spent sooo much money on my hubby's gym membership... I don't know. I think I am going crazy.
For the last three mornings... my hubby has "planned" on getting up and going to the gym. He spends lots of time gripping about his weight (as he eats oreos in front of the TV) and about how he wants to be less fat. Okay fine. I can live with that...What gets on my nerves is when the morning comes he hits the snooze button on the clock.
Not just once or twice.... seriously like 5 or 6 times if not more!
I am supposed to get up at 5:15am to wake up Brownie so that he has time to shower and text his girlfriend before seminary. No problem... I go back to bed again until 5:45am when I drag my big belly out of bed and start the car for our morning outing. Most mornings I then return to bed until almost 7 when it is time to pick him up again. (Blonde is great about getting up on his own with his alarm..without using the snooze).

When the hubby plans to "go" to the gym... the alarm starts going off at about 4:45.... continuing every seven blooming minutes until he gets up at 6am. That means he hits the snooze.... too dang many times!! I have thought of putting some sort of device on the clock to zap him awake but he might get mad and wake up Squish... who is of course sleeping with his elbow in the back of my neck.

I forgot...

I think of all sorts of things to blog about when I am nowhere near the computer.... but by the time I sit down I have forgotten everything I wanted to say. Jellybean says it is because of Mikayla. Maybe he's right. Currently I am taking pills to lower my blood pressure to stop contractions and I have been instructed by the doctor that my iron is too low (I am supposed to increase my intake by 350 mg a day) and also I am suppose to stay off my feet as much as possible.
Maybe I am losing my mind like Jellybean thinks....

Pass the butter.

This afternoon I have an appointment for another ultrasound. This one is to see how far into the labor process I have progress since my last ultrasound several weeks ago. It is also to see how big Mikayla has grown.

Honestly, since I have reached the 200lb. mark I have to say I hope she is growing. I read on a parenting web site that at the stage that I am at... Mikayla is only about the size of an ear of corn. Excuse me?
It is not that I want her to be a ginormous baby when it comes time for her to "boom" out (as Jellybean calls it) but good grief... if she is only the size of an ear of corn and weighs a little over a pound.... that means that all of the rest....is ME!
I think I will go cry now... and have a Ding Dong.

Missing photos...

For Christmas I received a digital camera. Its silverish and has a memory card that holds like 1700 pictures. It's cute and not too terribly big. Somehow you can not only take pictures with it but you can even record short movie blips. Rather fancy for my little world.
I plugged the camera into the computer to download the pictures. I thought I was watching to see where they went.....
I cannot find the pictures. They appear to have disappered into the deep unknow of the computer. Ugh!
Hopefully when one of my teenagers come home they can help me locate them. I am slightly miffed and very baffeled at this experience.

Gotta Move!!

Lately I have decided that we just need to move. I have just a strange set of neighbors and I am getting tired of trying to come up with new ways to avoid them or ways to appear interested when they talk to me.
First there is...hmm... let's call her "Debbie"... since that's her name:).

She lives two doors down. I met her the first little while that we lived in Sumner. She attended the same church as my hubby. I will never forget the first conversation that we had. My hubby was trying to explain why I did not attend his church and told Debbie that I am LDS. She got the biggest grin on her face and said "Oh... you can teach me how to cook without meat!" It took us some time to figure out what she meant... she thought I belonged to a different church (Seven Day Adventists, we think). From then on it has only gone down hill.

When we were moving here... we almost changed our minds... and not because of the volcano. We were horrified to discover that Debbie was not only moving to our subdivision... but to our very street. Good grief!

We have come to understand that Debbie is a total nut job. I don't know if she has medical issues but she definately has major issues... none of the least of which is her weird daughter who at the age of 11 is made to "hose off" outside when she has messed her pants... again. Or the fact that I am pretty sure her husband is a rapist... atleast he looks like one.

Well, Debbie has informed me that she and her daughter are so thrilled that we are having a baby and they plan on coming over and holding her all the time so I don't need to worry about getting her a crib to sleep in. Oh, goodie!

The other neighbor we have always affectionately called "The Blue House Lady"... because we don't know her name. She is a great friend of "Debbie" and lives down around the corner from us near the river in a Blue house. She looks somewhat like a guy and has a weird husband who is literally 20 years older than she is. They have one child together.... who for some reason has all sorts of behavioral issues. She has somehow decided that she is my friend because she is Debbie's friend and Debbie and I are so close.... ???.....

Blue House Lady came over today to ask me if I wanted to start watching her son in the afternoons because her step-daughter Stormie (real name by the way) has decided to drop out of high school and move in with her boy friend..."without giving me any notice!" and now Blue House Lady needs a babysitter because her husband isn't working right now. (Did you catch the last bit? The husband isn't working? What?)
She said she has talked to Brownie about it and wondered if he had said anything to me.
Yea... like HE wants to do it... HAHAHA... it is to laugh!!
Anyway, the hubby and I have discussed that we need to move. I don't care if it just to another block... we don't have to tell Debbie or the Blue House Lady that. We have actually gone and looked at some land... a build your own house on our land thing... too bad it all takes money. I told the hubby he has until the beginning of June to get me out of here.
The clock is ticking.....

Pass the Kleenex...

Yesterday was Blonde's second basketball game. He came home from school very excited that he was going to get to start in the game. Yea!! My hubby even made it home from work in time to attend. My son played in the center position and was #43. (He had told me he was #45.... liar.) I cannot really tell you what happened during the game because as we all know basketball is not one that I have given much attention to. I know that my son fouled twice within the first few minutes of the game (My hubby told him that he cannot bring his fouls home so he may as well us them.) Quarters lasted 6 minutes and my son played a lot of time. He was in all of the first quarter, half of the second, most of the third and some of the fourth. In the third quarter he even scored!!! I was so proud... (yes... fine... I cried.... are you happy now? ) His team pulled off the win. 26 to 20. It was great to watch him go back and forth on the court. He was not the tallest or the fastest player on the team but he definately helped his team to victory. It was really fun to watch. I guess I will need to find out the rule so I can follow the game. There is still far too much whistling though!

Really real...

Last night for the first time my husband and my browneyed son were able to feel the baby move. I have been enjoying these bumps for quite some time and it was fun to share the experience with two of my most favorite men. The look on my son's face was priceless as he felt his little sister moving. It is one of the coolest bits of being the mom.
