Weird Yet Sappy.

I just noticed the Widget thing there on the side. It says that there are still 10 days until Mikayla is due. It just hit me how weird it is that she is still not inside. I look at her and marvel at her perfectness. Her hands and feet amaze me. Her personality is great. She laughs while she sleeps and growls while she eats. She loves to be in the tub but not getting washed. What a beautiful creation I have been blessed with. I still sometimes question the wisdom of our having her at this stage of our lives (Brownie will be starting college in the fall and Jellybean will be in Kindergarten...). At the same time I am so glad we don't have another 10 days before she comes into our world. I wouldn't want to miss a minute of this ride with her. I have only had to wait 16 years for her to come along... so far she has definately been worth the wait.

Zzzzzz..

If I stop moving I fall asleep. My little boys find this quite amusing. I have turned into my mom. I remember as a kid how she would nod off and be awake again instantly if someone talked to her, or touched her or breathed in her general direction. I also remember the jump that she did as she regained her previous state of awakeness. Hang on... I witnessed this just these past few weeks while she has been here with us. Something about being the mom certainly wears you out. My mother said it is because Mikayla is a girl. She even took a picture of myself and my child sleeping in the chair. I never actually saw the photo but I was told that we both had our mouths wide open and looked very related. Go figure :). I am enjoying the television offerings at 2am and usually again at 4. My cat is completely confused by my nightly wanderings. My mind struggles to focus and retain information. Where are the diapers? Has anyone seen the wipes? Maybe if I sit down for a minute I will remem......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

My daughter.

Today is Mikayla's third day on this little planet we call home. I have not yet called the hospital and checked on her but as of last night at 9:30ish she was still doing well. The Dr. has decided that it is time to begin feeding her. Yea! She will be receiving 1 tsp. of milk every three hours until she is ready to nurse. She is also receiving Zantac for acid reflux... poor little girl... but it seems to be making her feel better.

Happy day!

On May 27, 2008 at 4:28 am my sweet beautiful (and only) daughter made her way into this world. She was determined to arrive and nearly came at home on her Daddy's brand new matress. :) She weighed in at a massive 5 lbs 4 oz and was 18" long. She has a thin (instead of a full) head of dark hair and looks a lot like her youngest older brother. Pictures to follow.
